Room very dated, bathroom in poor state, mould in shower. Bareable for one night but couldn't stay here much longer than that.
Bed was extremely uncomfortable, shower did not work initially however this was due to unclear instructions on how to work it. Very dated. Woken up at 9am due to buildings work
Clean and very welcoming, would stay again but book in advance
Staff were happy to store bags for the day. Heritage protected lift.
We booked a strictly non smoking room. We were allocated room 1 which reeked of stale smoke. It was as bad as if someone had thrown up. Room was very noisy with other guests crashing around at 3.30am. Very poor value compared to Jury, Ibis, Holiday Inn. Would go out of my way not to stay there again. Mike.
Trying to modernise hotel. What they lose in one thing they make up for in service. Was good value
Wifi not available in room. Room backed onto railway line. No blackout curtains.
I have stayed at the hotel twice now and I have always found the hotel staff are friendly and welcoming, on both occasions my room has been spacious and clean with a contemporary style. The bath rooms are modern and clean too.
Room was very comfortable & clean. Reception staff helpful, polite & professional
Reason for staying at the hotel was for a stag trip. The hotel is at the very heart of Newcastle Nightlife and 5 minute walk from Quayside.
The older room of this hotel are in desperate need of tlc giving the fact we paid £170 each for a 2night stay, issues we had with our room 39, toilet did not flush, lights did not work and the general condition of the room was not great. However spoke to the fantastic reception staff who moved us to the newer part of the hotel and have to say very impressed.
The breakfast and breakfast room was nice. Room was spacious as well.
The electricity in my room went out 3 times during my stay. When taking a shower, the more pressure you get, the colder the water becomes. These probably only apply to my room.
the girls on the desk were fit
Cheap and good access to to city friendly staff
The layout on the 2nd floor is a bit up and down and we could hear the people upstairs using the wc which wasnt nice especially at 630 in the morning
It was in a brilliant location.
Room reflected nothing what was advertised. Hotel lobby was very modern, stylish then our room looked like you'd gone back ten years. Things broken in the room, damp on the roof in the bathroom.
Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable room, good location, free 3-pack of bourbon biscuits.
A few minor gripes: the digital tv didn't work - all digital channels just stuttered and clipped and crackled rendering it totally unwatchable. There was no discernable way of making the shower work - taps: check, shower head: check, button or lever that makes water come out of shower head instead of taps: nope. Contact reception you say? There was no phone in the room with which to do this. The free bottles of "shower gel", "shampoo" etc all contain precisely the same all- purpose gloop. Having been offered on arrival a full english breakfast between 8 and 10am for £5 I agreed, when I went down to the breakfast room at 8:10am nothing was ready, and although the nice lady did hustle to put me something together this wouldn't have been much use had my meeting been at 9am not 9:30am. Despite these gripes I rather enjoyed my stay - the room was pretty and comfortable and clean and the staff were all very nice.
Location good , hotel worn and dated.
Dirty bathroom, toilet seat broken filthy taps and grout, shower no pressure dirty flooring ,stained carpet in main area, well worn and filthy.Plaster on ceiling in bedroom falling off complete with stains all over and cobwebs.Bed disgusting all stained have thrown better in the skip!Could not wait to get home for a bath to feel clean! Still waiting for manageress to call back 2 days later, receptionist keeps making excuses. Not good customer service on handling concerns.
